Difference Differently Primary Modules

While Difference Differently uses a modular approach, each module has several stand-alone activities providing you with flexible options for using the resource.  The online activities include wikis and forums, quizzes, videos and interactive learning games.  They are supported with ideas for teacher led introductory and concluding activities.

English

Exploring diverse texts, developing empathy and recognising point of view and perspective are important aspects of the English curriculum.  Difference Differently presents primary students with two units Stories about Difference and Ways of Seeing.  Sample the following story about Bat from Stories about Difference, a module for Year 3/4 students.

History/Geography

In line with the Australian Curriculum, these modules have a strong focus on Australia's cultural diversity, exploring how Australian society has evolved and the benefits and challenges that this diversity has created.  For example, in one activity in Our Communities, Year 3/4 students are 'invited' to attend three weddings, after which they rate their experience as a 'guest'.

Civics and Citizenship

The Civics and Citizenship modules focus students on their personal beliefs, attitudes and behaviors in a diverse world.  While Year 3/4 focus on Getting to Know Others, the Year 5/6 module My Values includes an activity where students consider which national values are important to them by rating their reaction to various stimulus materials, including the following audio recording:
