Intertwining Education and Culture
Members of our NSW Education team travelled to Trunkey in Central West NSW to deliver Teacher PD to participants from several small primary schools in the area.
The Principal of Trunkey Public School, Mrs Sharyn Cogdell initiated the event which brought together teachers from Mandurama, Carcoar, Lyndhurst, Rockley, Neville and Black Springs public schools.
The PD aimed to provide teachers with the knowledge and skills to plan their 2021 ‘Carnivale,’ a program designed to showcase various aspects of cultural diversity across individual school communities.
The two-day event provided many wonderful opportunities for teachers from regional NSW to collaborate on designing learning activities, so that ‘Carnivale‘ can become a whole-term, integrated cultural experience for the students. Teachers embraced the opportunity to hone their intercultural skills in order to better support students to embrace their peers from diverse backgrounds.
