Queensland soldiers on
While NSW and Victoria were in lockdown, our Queensland Coordinator, Tanja Hagedorn and her team have been busy delivering student programs. At Yeronga State High School, the team delivered CHAT (Cultural Hearing Asking Telling), a workshop-based program developed by Scripture Union Australia designed to enhance empathy, encourage understanding, explore diversity, and develop students’ self-reflection and dialogue skills. This resulted in a student-led social action, Y-Voice, a forum for students to discuss issues around diversity and inclusion.

Tanja also facilitated a student voice group at Kenmore State High School. The group was formed as the school community recognised a strong need to create a forum where students and staff could discuss issues of racism, homophobia and other forms of discrimination, and brainstorm ways in which the school and TFH could partner to address these issues.
This term, Tanja and her team are running CHAT with a group of Year 10 Kenmore students. In their latest newsletter, Kenmore’s Deputy Principal, Inclusion and Wellbeing, Karla Pope spoke about why the school has partnered with TFH.
